Kim was born and raised in Salt Lake City. She worked in the mental health field for over ten years—primarily with adolescents and children before she ventured out and spent several years moving around the West, living in Eugene, OR; Spokane, WA, where her twins were born; and for a short time in Castle Rock, CO.

As a newly single mom with two babies, Kim returned to Salt Lake and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Utah, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. She began working as a paralegal for a solo family law practitioner in 2011 and spent the next several years enthusiastically learning about divorce and family law in Utah. Her excitement for studying the law grew, fueling a determination to make her way to law school. Kim earned her Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2020.

Kim's passion for working with marginalized communities coupled with her unique ability to connect and engage with people (and an inability to avoid a good argument), has made family law a great fit for her.

As an At-Large member, advocating for Utah's LGBTQIA+ students, Kim sat as Chair of the Utah State Board of Education's Advisory Committee on Equity of Educational Services for Students. Kim enjoys snowboarding in the winter. She loves live music and spending quality time with her children and close friends. She is a divorced mother of teenage twins and has a dog named Dewey. She is currently preparing to take her Utah licensing exam.
