ATTORNEY PROFILE
Robb Jones
Robb has been practicing law since 2010. He has a broad practice that focuses on criminal defense and family law, but he also handles general civil litigation, estate planning, administrative law, etc. Robb has really enjoyed the practice of law, and enjoys being able to assist clients with a variety of matters.
Robb obtained his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah, where he majored in philosophy. After undergrad, Robb worked in the financial services industry, which included working as a stockbroker. He then went to law school at UNLV, where he graduated Cum Laude. He really enjoyed law school, and in particular, his various experiences as a clerk and/or extern. Specifically, he worked as an extern at the Clark County Juvenile Defender’s Office in which he represented low-income/underprivileged juveniles in the Las Vegas area. That experience was eye-opening for him in terms of providing him with an understanding of how a person’s background might make it more difficult for that person to avoid getting involved in the legal system. Robb also clerked for the Clark County Public Defender’s Office, which immediately exposed him to representation of adults at trial facing even the most serious charges. Finally, Robb was able to complete an externship for the Rocky Mountain Innocence Project, which is an organization that exonerates individuals that have been wrongfully convicted of crimes, most commonly by using DNA evidence.
After law school, Robb was very lucky to be able to come back to Utah and work under some of the best lawyers in both the criminal defense and family law fields, and some of the best general litigators. Specifically, Robb has worked under Shawn Robinson, Randall Skeen, Scott Kunkel, Stephen McCaughey, Jeremy Delicino, and Greg Skordas, among others.
Based on his experience, Robb was able to maintain his own practice, and thus, was able to select and help clients with various types of matters. Robb really appreciated the ability to control his own practice and to choose what matters he worked on.
As Robb’s career progressed, his practice centered on handling criminal defense and family law matters in both state and federal court. However, he also commonly handled general civil litigation/disputes, both on the plaintiff and defense side, and assisted clients with estate planning.
Robb has handled numerous trials, including jury trials in both state and federal court. Thus, Robb has the skills and experience to take a matter to a jury trial if necessary.
Ultimately Robb joined up as partners with Jared Hales and Bryant McConkie and they formed McConkie Hales & Jones. He feels very lucky to have been able to partner with them because they are excellent lawyers that are extremely talented, and very well respected in the legal community. Also, Robb joined with them because they have a very positive, practical approach towards the practice of law. Finally, the office that they have created has such a positive atmosphere, as the staff they have compiled are extremely skilled, and are as dedicated as each of the lawyers to helping each client with whatever their needs are.
Overall, Robb has found that maintaining a broad practice has helped him maintain a positive attitude towards work in general, and ultimately helps him perform better in each matter he handles. He enjoys taking the time to ensure that he is handling each case, no matter what type, in the best way possible for his clients.
Robb has been married to his wife, Megan, for 14 years and has 2 daughters, a golden retriever, a cat, and a bulldog that is not very smart. Robb likes playing golf and basketball, and coaches his daughter’s soccer team, but he actually likes eating more than any type of exercise, and really he is more of a nerd than anything.
